Scribe Winery – Food, Wine & Friends

Why Visit Scribe Winery?

  • You believe wine is meant to be enjoyed with food
  • You want to experience how wine can be enhanced with the right food pairing
  • You’re interested in visiting a historical home in Sonoma
  • You’re looking for a beautiful place to savor wine with your friends under the California sunshine
  • Scribe Winery

Founded by brothers Andrew and Adam Mariani in 2007, Scribe Winery is paving the way for the next generation of wine enthusiasts. The brothers have transformed the property of an old turkey farm in Sonoma into an oasis of California cool, creating an inviting space for friends to come together and discover new wines. I’ve always believed wines are best when shared around the table with delicious food and good conversation. Upon visiting Scribe, you get the sense the Mariani brothers abide by the same philosophy.

Wine tastings were formerly up on the knoll where guests would gather on blankets or around picnic tables until the Mariani brothers purchased the Dresel family’s Hacienda in 2007. Emil Dresel, the son of a famous champagne producer from Germany, immigrated to California in 1858. He smuggled with him a great gift to the future of California’s top wine destination – vine cuttings from home! Emil brought what are thought to be the first Sylvaner and Riesling varieties in the United States. Upon visiting Scribe, you can sip on Sylvaner on the patio or in the home of the man who is responsible for the O.G. grapes that were the beginnings of the wine in your glass. While the home has been somewhat restored to make it a functional space for hospitality, much of the home was kept in original condition including the paint and wallpaper on the interior walls.

By employing non-interventionist winemaking methods, the Mariani brothers focus on producing wines that are a natural reflection on the vineyards from which they came. While the wines are lovely on their own, Scribe wines are truly enhanced by dishes from the Hacienda kitchen made with ingredients from nearby Sonoma farms. Scribe even has a rotating line up of chef’s with their Hacienda Chef-In-Residence program, welcoming chefs from all across the country to put their spin on the Hacienda tasting menu.

    Reservations and Tasting Experiences

    Scribe Winery
Scribe Winery offers one tasting experience at the Hacienda. For $60 per person, guests can enjoy a flight of 4 wines with 5 small plates. Reservations are required. Call in advance to book your tasting appointment. You could also purchase wines by the bottle to be enjoyed on the patio or on the lawn in front of the Hacienda if space permits. Members of the Scribe Viticulture Society may enjoy free tastings at the member lounge up on the knoll.

We recently savored this @garagistidisorgono Rosso Manrolisai DOC with lunch at the Sanna household. 🍷😍 I absolutly loved it! Delightfully balanced, fruit forward, and fresh. A highly drinkable wine perfect for easy get togethers and casual meals with family and friends.
Happy Monday wine lovers! I’m curious… is there a style of wine that you always tend to reach for?
If you’re into full-bodied white wines like Chardonnay, then Timorasso is a wine for you to try in 2023! 💫💫
Do you love high acid wines like me? 💦🥂💫
